The inspiration to DanORC
In fact the inspiration to establish DanORC came from the Danish Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Helge Sander. In an article in the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende on December 8 2005 he wrote: "Imagine if we already now had created an intense research co-operation between companies, research institutions and hospitals, that could make Denmark a frontier in regard to prevention of obesity and treatment of all related illnesses. What an improvement in the quality of lives it could bring. What possibilities to create a really good business."
